One of the wisest men I know says that the highest form of learning is teaching. I agree.

In fact, one of the highest forms of pleasure is knowing you helped guide a student.

Alexandra Morris, who goes by Zan, was a student of mine at UCLA where I teach Digital Photography. I just received an email that she is one of 15 featured artists in the Raw Artists 2011 Santa Monica Art Show and is a nominee for Photographer of the Year from the organization. Zan brought her talent to the class and it was evident early on. She is very fond of photographing nature but also understands the power of composition and light. A couple of her images are currently on display at UCLA in the John Wooden Center and were included in the Best of Spring, 2011 online gallery.

Congrats to Zan!

Here’s a link to her profile on the non-profit Raw Artist website and info on the upcoming event in Santa Monica: http://www.rawartists.org/view-artists/userprofile/Zan%20Morris
